A few of the questions we frequently receive about DPW weekend.

UPDATED 11/12/25

How many people to a room?

There are 6-10 people in a room unless you get one of the limited single spaces.

Can I share my solo space?

Yes, solo rooms are actually big enough for two people in twin beds. If you want to share your solo room, the registration fee for that person is $500.

What if I don't want to share a room with strangers?

You can get one of the limited number of personal rooms.

You can sleep outside if you bring an air mattress, pad, or a sleeping bag.

You can also bring a group of friends large enough to take over a space.

Can I still sleep outside?

Yes on air mattress or with sleeping bag.

Can I bring my own tent?

Only a small shade tent.

What is your rain plan?

We are on rain or shine!

What are your covid protocols?

Folks are required to bring a rapid test to take upon arrival, before leaving the car. You must show the attendant a negative test before accessing the grounds.

We strongly encourage folks to bring enough test to test daily.

Tests are available on the community table while supplies last.

We also invite folks to ask about covid symptoms and precautions during negotiation before exchanges.

Can I start a camp fire?

Attendees are not allowed to start any kind of fire. Our fire tender, Superior, welcomes inquires and support while stoking our communal fire at the main campsite on Friday and Saturday night.

Why is there an entry cut off?

We have a check- in cut off on Thursday and Friday because we have container agreements that we share as we open the weekend.

Is there running water or electricity?

Yes there are showers and bathrooms in or connected to each cabin space.

Do I have to be kinky?

No. You can just come for the vibes if you'd like. People have come and spent the weekend napping. The point is to choose what pleasure as restoration looks like for you.

Can I bring my pet?

No pets allowed.

Do I pay my deposit before or after receiving my vetting answer?

If this is your first time joining us. You pay your deposit, within 24 hours, AFTER receiving your vetting decision.

If you have attended DPW before you can pay your deposit when you send in your interest form.

How do I make payments?

You will receive a link for credit card payments after vetting acceptance.

When do I choose my space?

You can choose your bed after you finish your final payment. There are 6-10 beds in shared spaces and one or two beds in the solo space.

How are folks vetted?

We consider DPW a mid level vetting protocol. We check social media accounts, search your name on the National Sex Offender registry, there are keywords we look for in vetting form answers, and we may ask our networks if folks are familiar with you. Our vetting process is designed to help create a safer container and confirm that your vibes match our vibes.

Reasons you could end up not being invited after vetting:

Some of the reasons you could not be invited include:

-Transphobic, fatphobic, misogynist, exclusionary and hateful speech on your social media.

-Listed on National Sex Offender Registry.

-Vetting answers don't feel aligned with community vibes.

Can I get a refund if I have to cancel?

No refunds, except if you email a positive Covid PCR tests within 10 days before the event.

Can emergency services reach us?

Yes and we will have a medic on staff.

Are there animals?

It's the forest so there are bugs, deer, and we did have a bear sighting once.

How do I choose references for my vetting form?

Your references should be people who can speak to your vibes in community. They should also be willing to support you in an accountability process. Bonus points if they have attended DPW. Not having references will not disqualify you.

Who do I contact if I have any other questions?

Email dopepleasureinthewoods@gmail.com.

Who is this event for?

This event is for BIPOC LGBTQIA folks. We center the experience and safety of Black women, femmes, and trans folks.

How do I get access to the course?

Access to the course will start at least 30 days before camp and after your final payment is received. The course covers what to expect, our harm response plan, camping safety tips and more. You have access to the course until the Friday after camp.

If I've attended before do I need to fill out the vetting form?

No, you can just fill out the interest form.

Can I bring snacks?

Yes you can bring snacks, but no food can be cooked on the grounds.

What is the community harm response plan?

If an issue should arise that can’t be resolved between the parties involved there will be a small group convened (usually consisting of the 2 DPW staff and 3 camp volunteers) to hear the issue from both sides. After hearing the issue the group will vote on the appropriate course of action. Which may include asking folks to leave or referral to an organization that can support an accountability process. By attending the weekend you agree to participate in this process and refrain from calling the police to the site.

If you refuse to participate in the process, you will be asked to leave the grounds and banned from future events. If you need assistance, please contact a staff member immediately so the plan can be activated.

If an injury is to occur we will call the local emergency services. There will be folks who are CPR and first aid trained and a medic on staff.

What are the weekend community agreements?

-The consumption of intoxicants must be done responsibly.
